Si beaucoup d’utilisateurs utilisent une ligne sur IP (au travers d’une box), une ligne t\u00e9l\u00e9phonique sur trois est encore analogique (t\u00e9l\u00e9phone directement reli\u00e9 \u00e0 la prise murale). Cette simple diff\u00e9rence change beaucoup de choses cot\u00e9 op\u00e9rateur. Les lignes RTC sont g\u00e9r\u00e9s par des commutateurs tr\u00e8s anciens qu’il devient difficile de maintenir tant par la disponibilit\u00e9 des pi\u00e8ces que par les comp\u00e9tences des techniciens. Les plus jeunes techniciens n’ont jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 form\u00e9s sur cette technologie qui \u00e9tait condamn\u00e9e \u00e0 disparaitre.

Un peu comme la disparition de la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision analogique, ce changement de technologie risque de perturber la population la moins au fait des nouvelles technologies, mais pas d’inqui\u00e9tude pour l’instant: la loi pr\u00e9voit de pr\u00e9venir les clients 5 ans avant la suppression effective de la technologie et cette suppression sera progressive. Pour l’instant seul l’arr\u00eat de la commercialisation de nouvelles lignes est imminent.
